Townsville Tourist Trophy

Police from Townsville Station and Road Policing Unit attended an annual motorcycle event. Senior Constable John Curry  was able to provide accurate speed indications after using his Lidar to obtain these reading from the riders. The riders are unaware of the speed in which they travel as their vehicles are not fitted with speedos.

This is the ninth year the Road Racing Association of Townsville have hosted this event. This year had the added bonus of incorporating the Queensland Supermoto Championships as well as the Queensland Short Course RR and Historic Championships.

The event was held on Saturday August 26 at Suncity Raceway Townsville. Riders as far as Western Australia and Victoria and from all over Queensland competed at the event.

The Queensland Police Service have supported this event and continue to do so along with Transport and Main Roads. This is done by sponsoring a race known as the Formula 3. The winner of this race was Phil Allen number 35 on his Ducati 620, Phil travelled from Gladstone to participate in this event he gained a total of 81 points.

In second place on his Kawasaki 400 was local RRAT rider Kyle Mountney, number 54, with a total of 75 points and  another local Scott McClymont number 177 received third place on his Mono with 71 points.
