Walk right in, sit right down, East Mackay

Walk right in, sit right down, East Mackay

An open door policy works well for a boss with their staff but we don’t recommend it for your homes.

At 7:20 am this morning a burglar has entered a unit situated at the Eastern end of Bridge Road through an open front door.

A handbag containing a Galaxy A tablet, bank cards and identification details were quickly stolen from inside before anyone realised a crook had even entered the room.

The offence has happened very quickly and would appear to fit into the ‘opportunistic’ category.

Police offer general advice to either home owners or those holidaying in a unit that if your place is going to be unattended briefly, even if only for minutes, we encourage you to close and lock your doors where possible.  You never know who may be lurking nearby.

If anyone has information about this particular matter that they wish to share with police, you can call the Mackay Police Station on 07 4968 3444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 any time of the day. The police report number to refer to is QP1701559944.

If you have information for police, contact Policelink on 131 444 or provide information using the online form 24hrs per day.

You can report information about crime anonymously to Crime Stoppers, a registered charity and community volunteer organisation, by calling 1800 333 000 or via crimestoppersqld.com.au 24hrs per day.
