East Mackay resident victimised twice by thief

A resident of Vaucluse Crescent in East Mackay has been victimised twice by a thief. Once when their home was broken into between 8pm on September 11 and 4:30am on September 12. Twice when the car keys were stolen from the handbag inside the house and used to steal the car which was parked in the home driveway.

The method of entry into the home has not been confirmed. All residents of the house were present and asleep when the offences occurred.

The stolen car is a 2000 model green Mitsubishi Mirage hatch-back registration number 951 MAS.  Unfortunately we don’t have an image of the stolen car to share with you.

Other items stolen from the handbag at the time include identification cards and bank cards.

Police are able to confirm that aside from this matter, another burglary/car theft incident was reported in the South Mackay area (the stolen car has been located) today during which the car keys were found by the thief in a handbag. Car keys are one of our crook’s most highly sought after items.
