Police will allege that at around 10 pm on Sunday August 27, a number of persons became embroiled in a disturbance outside a licensed premise in Moranbah.
Police will allege that this incident escalated into a physical confrontation whereby one male has repeatedly punched another male to the head. When the victim got to his feet the same male person has punched him to the back of the head.
Bar staff and management attempted to break this fight up but were unable to do so and were placed in danger themselves whilst attempting to do this.
Swift police enquiries into this matter have led to three males being charged, two with violent public nuisance offences and one male with assault occasioning bodily harm.
The Moranbah Liquor Accord has viewed this incident and at this meeting the Liquor Accord decided to ban the male involved in the assault from all premises in the Moranbah Liquor Accord for a period of 12 months. The two males involved in the public nuisance offences have been banned from the licensed premise where the incident occurred for six months each.
Moranbah Police and the Moranbah Liquor Accord stand united in tackling alcohol fuelled violence in Moranbah’s licensed premises and those individuals involved in such offending will be sent to court and will be banned from entering licensed premises.
Violent assaults can also lead to life changing injuries for the victims or in the worst instances one punch can kill. In a moment of madness the life of the victim and the offender can change forever. This is why Moranbah Police and the Moranbah Liquor Accord will continue to take a tough stance on those committing such offences in Moranbah’s licensed premises.
Police urge those who see trouble brewing or think they may become involved in such an incident to walk away and remove yourself from the confrontation. The consequences for not doing so are far to great.
