Pioneer valley police community noticeboard launch, Marian

Acting Senior Constable Tori Hubbard, Acting Sergeant Marshall Roper and Inspector Steve O’Connell prior to setting up for today’s launch

Marian Police were looking for a new method of keeping in contact with residents not only in their division – but also in the Pioneer Valley itself.  One conversation with local Woolworths Supermarket staff later and an idea was hatched to have a large television monitor with constantly updated police information and news (even a link to the Mackay police district myPolice site and CCTV images) displayed near the front entrance.

Introducing officers and AO’s from individual stations, promotional messaging, recruitment information, latest accurate crime information, CCTV images from reported offences – it’s all here.

Similar information is on display through monitors in the front foyers of many police stations in the Mackay district – Acting Sergeant Roper and Acting Senior Constable Hubbard were looking to have their monitor displayed in a location where it would receive maximum exposure for local residents.

To that end the Marian Woolworths Supermarket offer to display the monitor near the store entry point was very highly valued.  Today members of the public were treated to a free morning tea ..

Free morning tea being prepared – lamingtons, cakes, muffins and biscuits. Rumour has it some officers from surrounding stations could hear the cakes being placed onto the table – arriving shortly afterwards.

A large amount of varied information is on display – members of the public were able to speak to Pioneer valley officers to learn about the content and also ask as many questions as needed.

After the formal launch of the Noticeboard there was plenty of time to mix it up with Valley locals informally and also enjoy the morning tea.  Dozens of people intending to shop were happy to stop, eat and chat which was great to see.

Officers from the length of the Pioneer Valley attended to support the launch – in company with the Marian Woolworths Supermarket manager

We are extremely grateful for the support from Marian Woolworths in this project.  If you are heading in to do your grocery shopping at Marian Woolworths – don’t forget to have a peak at our information.
