Pssstt… wanna buy some cheap power-tools?
Just about gone are the days when you would find a shady character on a street corner selling dodgy and stolen goods from beneath a trench coat. Now a popular way for crooks to sell their stolen wares is through the use of social media and buy and sell websites.
This may be the case for some power tools stolen from a Katey Crescent address in Pioneer Lakes at Mirani last week. An 18v Hitachi cordless grinder and Hitachi 18v cordless rattle gun (similar to the items shown below) were stolen from a shed whilst the owner was away.
Both tools were engraved with the initials ‘DC’ on the hard plastic. The letters may still be on the tools, or may have been removed. If letters have been removed, there would be obvious damage to the casing of the tool to the same effect.
Now a man’s home is meant to be his castle, and it leaves a sour taste in your mouth when someone has gone into your shed uninvited and taken your gear.
The home owner made the unfortunate oversight of not locking his shed before leaving the home for a few days, making it easier for the light-fingered tool thief.
Complacency about property security in a rural area is a thief’s best friend. Many thieves jump in at the easy opportunity to relieve you of some of your hard earned possessions by walking into unlocked houses, sheds and cars.
