Snakes ‘n beaches

Sea snake left high and dry
No crimes to discuss here – just a warning for residents in the East and South Mackay area.
On three occasions in recent weeks I’ve received information about sea snakes being left high and dry by the out-going tide in the East and South Mackay area beaches, including Town Beach and Far Beach. On the most recent occasion (yesterday) a family member took a photo of one.
I don’t consider myself a snake expert in any way but if you frequent the beaches in these areas please be aware these snakes have been seen during the out-going tides. Do not handle them or attempt to move them by yourself. If the snake is in an area which you might expect the public to use then contact the local snake handler in your area.
Otherwise – keep an eye on your children and your pets, give them a wide berth!
